Instructor – Captain Rob Fanelli RET

Captain Rob Fanelli has over 21 years of experience as a law enforcement professional, with an emphasis on police organizational structure, criminal investigation, Field Training, and communication. He served as a Field Training Officer for seven years, a Field Training Sergeant for five years, and was an active board member of the FTO committee as a Lieutenant. He retired from the Gainesville Police Department in 2023. In 2024 he attended and completed a police academy and went on to complete an FTO program as an officer. He now works as a patrol officer in Colorado. He has experience writing and developing department policy including an FTO Manual. He is the founder and first president of the Southeastern Field Training Officer Association. He has a B.A. Degree in Criminology from the University of Florida and an MBA from Saint. Leo University. He is currently a Fellow at Johns Hopkins University.
